Montana INBRE Data Science Core
A Message from Jeff Good
“Biomedical research spans many disciplines and relies on incredible diversity in
study designs, experimental and observational methods, and analyses. Given the complex
systems under study and data collected, interdisciplinary collaboration throughout
the research process is crucial to success.
Montana INBRE invests heavily in the infrastructure needed for statistical collaboration
and facilitates a network of experts and resources to connect researchers to data
science and biostatistics resources as well as address computational, data visualization,
and analysis needs. The importance of research design and analysis planning is emphasized,
as well as integrity in data collection, management and interpretation.

across disciplines, advancing education, and supporting research excellence throughout
Montana."
Data Science Core Goals
- Offer tutorials, workshops and courses to promote the use of bioinformatics tools and expose students to bioinformatics and biostatistics
- Engage in one-on-one biostatistical collaborations and bioinformatical technical support and mentoring
- Collaborate with social science research laboratories to provide research resources to social and behavioral scientists
- Promote collaborations with biostatisticians and bioinformaticians early in the research process due to the importance of research design and analysis planning
- Promote data integrity and mindful use of statistical methods
